Depends on what we classify as intimacy, as there are certainly levels of intimacy. The deeper kinds, I'd imagine, would probably lie in interactions off social media. I think social media is the tool that helps us find groups, communities, etc. whether online or offline, but the community model that fosters direct relationships between people is the key
I agree. In this sense, I write about relationships formed over social networks and scaling (improving and strengthening) those. The essay referenced has a business focus (forming relationships with customers and Improving them as a retention strategy - the amazon flywheel is closely related), but then there's a difference in construct in the community model where direct relationships with people are key.
